Groomers in North Norfolk

I’ve been a self-employed part-time groomer for the most of the past 17 years and wouldn’t want to do any other job. I have many nice customers and some of them have become good friends, but being self employed and never having employed other groomers, I feel quite cut off from the grooming industry.

It would be nice to meet other groomers within the grooming sector with whom I can swap stories, advice and tips. Having worked on my own for so long, I am probably quite set in the way I groom and it would be nice to have fresh input.

I’d love to hear from other groomers in north Norfolk, whether you are established or just starting out. Looking forward to hearing from you on 01263 733540

I know what you mean Sue, I’m down in the south west, have be gromming for over 40 years, am not interested in competitions, and am not able to get way easily for seminars. As we run kennels, it is an awful lot of orgaising to get away, and they are never near enough to do in a day.

It is easy to feel isolated, and it is nice to be able to talk to other people who understand at a professional level. Customers, lovely as they may be, do not understand the technicalities of grooming, they just want their dog to be neat and tidy treated with respect, and not cost too much!

    Hi Mary and Sue

I am in the same boat – I groom from home and have two small children to run about after – no time for anything else, never mind being able to get away for seminars!

I also used to feel isolated, but after attending Eurogroom in May this year (its in Bracknell – only 3 miles from where I live, otherwise I wouldn’t have a snowflakes’ chance of getting the day off!!) I joined the Watt-a-dog grooming forum and haven’t looked back since!

The forum is run by groomers, for groomers (this mag is featured on the forum too) and its a really friendly, non-daunting place.

I’ve learned heaps of new techniques since joining. You should give it a go.

I second the Watt a Dog forum. It is a HUGE information bank and they now have a list of every breed with pictures from groomers and tips on how to groom them….all added to by forum members. (although you need to have contributed to the forum before you can access some areas) Amazing site, I don’t think there is another forum like it!!

    Hi everyone,
My situation is slightly different from yourselves, I have just completed an intensive grooming course (6 weeks)and decided to open a very small unit for myself (there was no room at home) as I am older I have not had any work experience with any other groomers so I do feel this is going to be quite daunting and scary going straight into this, I am due to open in just over a weeks time.. If you have any advice or anyone who would love to talk, I would very muc appreciate it.
    Carina (from Essex)
